Flipside has been created to solve this problem:
We often hear only one side of the story in the news that is
served to us.
We believe not representing the full spectrum of opinions
affects society’s wellbeing by distorting people’s view of reality and can be
used to influence opinions.
Not mentioning it being an insult to readers’
intelligence.
We hope showing 2 opposing sides of a same issue will help
our readers get a better grasp of the whole picture and realize that not everything
is black or white as we’re often lead to think.
We finally hope Flipside will be the spark for meaningful
conversations and allow for more empathy and truth in the public debates.
1.
No issue should ever be taboo
2.
We ought to be as neutral as we possibly can.
3.
We create and maintain the space for conversations to happen.
4.
We don’t partake in the debates nor take
sides.
5.
We won’t accept any sort of personal attacks in the debates.
We try to cover the current, upcoming, recurring and old
issues.
We try to present 2 polarized opinions. If it’s too mild. It’s
not for us.
We try to curate articles that get to the point rapidly and
clearly. Not waste our readers precious time.
We listen to our readers wants and interests.
Please submit your ideas for stories at mathieu@flipside.news
You can submit links to articles for both sides, but we will review the fairness of each before
submitting.
If you want to sponsor us & give us money: Great! But we
won’t give you a medal for it and accept corporate sponsors that would mean
compromising our debates.
Flipside was initiated by Mathieu Gosselin (I’d like to describe my own little self as: half a geek, half an artist, half an entrepreneur and half coconut) with the gracious help of Dean Frankhauser on UI, Clement Cazalot for the name & Ed Cooke for the enthusiasm.
